They seem to be fairly reliable and Maserati is offering pretty good leases on them. What does Oppo think?

From what I have read and seen in reviews, the fit and finish is not up to par with competitors. That’s what happens when you take an exotic marque and add cheapness to sell it at a lower price point. There’s a reason the Quattroporte is $100k+ and the Ghibli is $70k.

They look nice and sound nice but I would rather have a 550i/E550/S6.

About 8 months ago I got a postcard from Maserati to come to some VIP Golf Club and test drive all their new model cars (I have no idea why I got this postcard, but I guess they saw I had a BMW?).

I drove the Ghibli, the Grantourismo and the Ghibli S4Q (and had free food with a free gift bag that included a 8g thumb drive that is now in my BMW’s audio system and a hat!).

The base Giblet was decent, it seemed like a normal sedan with a bit more flavor in styling. It was quick, but not amazingly so. The Giblet S4Q was fantastic. The styling was decent, it sounded amazing and was pretty fast with decent flappy paddle response. There were a whole host of buttons I wasn’t allowed to play with too much (like traction control), but there were options to make the exhaust sound louder and it seemed almost like an M button for an M Series.

The Tourismo was amazing, but that is to be expected with that kind of $$ for a car.

Yup, that’s about what I’ve heard also. At least they’re still made in Italy.

Car and Driver magazine rated it second to last in midsize luxury and they’re my most trusted reviewer.

I love the A6, but I’ve also always wanted a three pointed trident. I’d have to test drive them both.

They’ve started a pretty aggressive marketing campaign. I recently got a card from them in the mail offering me 120% of the Blue Book Value of my Audi and pitched a $599 a month lease offer to me on a new Ghibli.

Apparently they are good to drive and sound as good or better than the competitors, and the interior is nice. But they do not have luxury items up to par with others in the class, so they have not been selling well. Personally I don’t like the styling - I prefer the big mouth grill on the GT.

Note that the “toys” in the GT are pretty limited as well. But once you get into more exotic car territory the number of toys and gizmos that aren’t directly related to driving appears to fall off anyhow (c.f., Ferraris, Astons, Lambos).

I got the same from a place outside of Baltimore. Apparently they have around 90 Giblets on the lot. Their offers aren’t bad for those considering a Giblet.

Maserati does nail the sound department every single time, I’m sure there’s a Tubi exhaust out there somewhere also.

I prefer the previous gen Quattroporte, but for the sake of reliability a Ghibli sounds more promising.

I’ve had my GT-S for something like 2+ years now, driven it quite a bit, and had no issues other than needing a new battery (not low enough to leave me stranded, but low enough to need replacement). Apparently the cars since 2008/9 are dead reliable. The guy who sold me my GT-S dailied a QP-S for years with no reliability issues.

Every review I’ve read also said that the Ghibli has some of the worst seats they’ve ever sat in. Which is damning as all hell for what’s supposed to be an Executive Sports Sedan.

Do you have the F1 transmission? I’ve looked into an automatic Quattroporte to avoid the replacement clutches. If you don’t mind me asking, how much is annual maintenance approximately?

Eh. It doesn’t really impress me that much. The fact that it shares such cheap parts with Chrysler is a major turn off.

Also, I've mistaken these for the latest generation Maxima from the rear end.

lulz, the engine is still a Ferrari derived BiTurbo but there are a few cheap American components.

But those few cheap American components ruin everything.

So far annual maintenance has been right around $1000, if you exclude the fact that someone backed into the nose of the car in LA which I was street parked and I replaced the bumper cover. (That cost was in line with doing the same repair on a BMW, by the way.)

Mine is an F1 and it has right over 20k miles. Apparently not close on the clutch yet according to my mechanic - I expect a replacement at around 30k. It is very jerky until the car warms up so I usually let it run for a few minutes before driving, but much better in my view in terms of gear selection once it gets going. Given the market for these cars (a lot of older folks who want basically a QP coupe) I get why it wasn’t a popular option and they discontinued it, but I didn’t want a regular automatic one myself. (I wouldn’t kick an automatic out of bed for eating crackers of course.)

That’s not horrible! I’ve heard that brake jobs and tires are expensive items for those cars, unless a warranty is provided.

If I was looking into a QP, automatic would be a must. The interval of clutch replacements would honestly be a bit much and I’d be daily driving it.

I’m sure tires are expensive, I think brakes are normal pads but wouldn’t be surprised if they go like other european luxury brands. I don’t think warranties generally cover those items. I’m sure rotors are dear.
